A Week of Sherby57: 18th Apr – 24th Apr 2010

Yet another week has flown by like a cloud of volcanic ash.  As a result of these unforeseen circumstances, I didn’t publish any posts on Friday and Saturday.  Sorry about that.

Sunday 18th

Remember These Facts – Two facts that may possibly help you in a crisis.  Sadly, I can’t remember which type of crisis they are applicable in.  Have a read anyway, just in case.

Monday 19th

Sherby57′s Mind Expanders – 2 –  The solution to last week’s immense puzzle and a brand new one to tease your tiny brains with.  If you’ve been having a good try at solving these riddles then I expect that your IQ has shot up by at least 30 points.  Possibly.

Tuesday 20th

Poor Poem – A Poem – It’s a bad poem about writing a bad poem.  It’s very post modern (i.e. it’s rubbish).

Wednesday 21st

Free Postage Offer for the Sherby57 Book – Hmmm. What an excellent book I’ve written and yet there are P&P charges incurred when buying a copy.  Whatever are we going to do?  Well, have a look at this link and you can get free P&P.  Super.

Thursday 22nd

Martin’s Muse – A Story – It’s a story about a romantic novelist who’s lost his inspiration and the strange way in which he gets it back.  Very moving.

A Week of Sherby57: 11th Apr – 17th Apr 2010

Lovely posts, lovely man.  Enjoy:

Sunday 11th

The Book of The Blog – Have I mentioned that I’ve released a book version of The World of Sherby57 called The Best of The World of Sherby57: Volume 1?  Oh, I’ve mentioned it several times, have I?  Well forgive me, your Lordship.  Anyway, this is another post advertising my wonderful book.

Monday 12th

Sherby57’s Mind Expanders – 1 – There’s a lot of flabby minds these days, so I thought I’d have a crack at getting your thoughts in shape.  This is a very tricky brainteaser, so don’t feel bad if you don’t get it straight away.  The solution will be published this week.

Tuesday 13th

Hunting Turnips – A Poem – It’s a poem about how it feels to hunt turnips for fun.  Admit it, we’ve all done it.

Wednesday 14th

Doctor Sherby57 on TV – A round up of the week’s TV, including: a St Helens-based sci-fi drama, a wig-based game show and a documentary about toes.

Thursday 15th

Leo and Linda’s Lion Luxury – A Story – Yet more bonkers romance.  It really is my forte.  This week sees two mis-matched people find love in the beautiful city of Wolfsteinsten.

Saturday 17th

The Sherby57 Exercise Plan – My new fitness regime has worked wonders for me and it seems only fair that I share my secrets with you.  Get prepared to buy a whole new wardrobe.

A Week of Sherby57: 4th Apr – 10th Apr

It’s another week’s posts from the blog that has a book.  Did I mention that there was a book of The World of Sherby57?  Oh, I did.  Never mind, I just thought I’d check.

Sunday 4th

Post From The Past – April 2009 – It’s the final part of the story of why I went missing for three months.  It wouldn’t take a genius to work out that I was totally bored of doing it by this stage.

Monday 5th

Angry Table: The Musical – A Poem – A poem about the perils of writing a musical about an angry table.  No, I don’t know where it came from either.

Tuesday 6th

Easter Gravy – Yet another fabulous episode of The Gravy Boat Podcast.  This one features a ‘bible story’.  There is a chance that I made it up.

Wednesday 7th

Sherby57 on TV on Ice – A quick look at the week’s TV, featuring the hit drama, Tweet Town Blue.  If you like textspeak then this is for you.

Thursday 8th

The Man Done Some Stuff 3: Man in New York – The return of the world’s most romantically comedic series of romcoms.  This time the man is a different man, but the original man is still in it.  I know that sounds a bit confusing but it will all make sense if you just read it.  It’s also set in New York so it’s very cosmopolitan.

Friday 9th

Visit Wolfsteinsten – If you’re thinking about getting away for the weekend then I suggest you give this post a read.  Wolfsteinsten is a little known destination, but it’s well worth a visit.

Saturday 10th

Martha’s Bangers – A Story – The week ends with a beautiful romance story of the highest order.  And it’s set in a truck stop.  What more could you ask for?  Look out for a special guest appearance by Geoffrey Dunstable.  Yes, THAT Geoffrey Dunstable.

A Week of Sherby57: 28th Mar – 3rd Apr 2010

It’s been another stunning week of posts on Sherby57.  But, I’m really biased because I wrote them.  Why not read them for yourself, just to prove that you agree with me.

Sunday 28th

Let’s Hear it for the Brain Mite – Not enough people know how their own soggy brains work.  Have you even heard of brain mites before?  I thought not.  Perhaps you should have a read of this post and let me educate you.  To be fair, a lot of the information was arrived at by educated guesses, so you might want to double check before you attempt any surgery.

Monday 29th

Unlucky Gravy – It’s an advert for the thirteenth episode of The Gravy Boat podcast.  If you like truck stop conventions\festivals then it’s your duty to listen.

Tuesday 30th

This is Between You and Me – Shhhh.  Don’t say anything.  This post is just for me and you.  I know you understand.  Let’s keep it secret, yeah?

Thursday 1st

Des’s Surprise – A Story – Gosh.  It’s yet another ground-breaking romcom.  How do I keep on producing romantic fiction of such high quality?  I must be jam-packed full of romance.  To the brim.

Friday 2nd

New Sherby57 Products – Not only is Sherby57 a blog, it’s also a company that produces innovative consumer products.  Take a look at these four exciting products and then rush out to buy them.  They’re literally amazing.

A Week of Sherby57: 21st Mar – 27th Mar 2010

Do I really need to write an introduction to this, this week?  No.  I didn’t think so.

Damn…does this constitute an introduction?

Sunday 21st

Attention Earthlings! – Sherby57 was hijacked last Sunday as some sort of Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen type alien shared his message with the world.  I don’t know how long it’s going to take for him to get here, but keep on the look out for a UFO with an enormous paint roller attached.

Monday 22nd

The Gravy Dozen – It’s a lovely advert for episode 12 of The Gravy Boat.  If you’ve not listened yet then you’ve missed a tale about an unusual watch and the first mention of Truckstopcon ’10.

Wednesday 24th

Booky – Our good friends at the Torben Piechnik Institute have made a comeback as they discover an entirely new type of book.  They decided to call it ‘Booky’… I don’t know why.

Thursday 25th

Tea for Two – A Story – Those of you paying attention will notice that I write at least one bizarre romcom story every week.  This week was a belter, so much so that I already plugged it here.  Does it sounds conceited for me to call it a ‘belter’?  Perhaps, but it was pretty good.  It’s the story of a man who runs a literary bakery who meets a woman who runs a herbal tea shop.  What sort of ridiculous misunderstanding will blight their fledgling romance?  Just how sappy will its conclusion be?  You’re just going to have to have a read to find out.

Friday 26th

Visit The Sherby57 Estate – Not many people know that the Sherby57 estate is one of the top tourist attractions in the country.  Did anybody spot the deliberate mistake in that last sentence?  Either way, have a read of this and I’m sure you’ll be jumping in your car to visit.

Saturday 27th

Wigan Casino – A Poem – It’s a short poem about a man who wants to be a gangster despite some obvious setbacks.  I wish I could say that I planned to call it Wigan Casino from the outset, but the connection only came to me once I had finished.  I just got lucky.

A Week of Sherby57: 14th Mar – 20th Mar 2010

It’s the time of the week for a bit of shameless self promotion.  You should know all about my other blog by now, but check out some of my mind-boggling posts anyway.

Sunday 14th

Post From The Past – March 2009 –  I’ve already talked about not blogging in March from a PSGOM perspective, here.  This post is Sherby57′s side of the story.  Sure, it’s slightly more outlandish, but it’s true.  It must be if it’s written on a blog.

Monday 15th

The Sound of Gravy – This is a post about Episode 11 of The Gravy Boat, my excellent podcast.  If you’ve not listened to it yet, then give it a try.

Tuesday 16th

The Man Done Some Stuff – A Story –  This is an amusing ‘satire’ on the whole romcom genre, and is partly inspired by a previous post, When a Man met a Woman.  In the comments section, Doctor Angel remarked on her disappointment that there were no ghosts involved in the story.  As a huge admirer of the gimmick\supernatural romcom sub-genre, I thought I’d take another crack at it, which lead to….

Wednesday 17th

The Man Done Some Stuff 2: Woof Stuff –  Yes, it’s another ‘amusing’ satire of the romcom but this time with an outlandish gimmick.  I was quite pleased with how it turned out and I can only imagine the franchise going from strength to strength.

Thursday 18th

The Calendar of Love – A Story –  It’s another odd love story for the man that brought you so many other odd love stories.  I’m quite proud of it though.

Friday 19th

Past V Present – A Poem –  Quite an insipid poem. See, I don’t think everything I write is brilliant.

Saturday 20th

Writer’s Block –  Oh, I’m just so utterly hilarious.

A Week of Sherby57: 7th Mar – 13th Mar 2010

It seems as though The World of Sherby57 is here simply to improve the quality of your lives.  It’s almost like a self-help book in blog form.  Have a read of last week’s post and feel yourself grow as a person.

Sunday 7th

Consider The Leopard – People are so inherently racist towards leopards and it’s just not on.  This thought-provoking piece will literally provoke some thoughts.

Monday 8th

An Englishman, Irishman and a Scotsman – A Joke – Jokes tend to be rubbish, yeah?  Well I’m sure you’ll all enjoy this piece of incredibly witty satire.

Tuesday 9th

Who You Gonna Call? – A life lesson about how much you should prepare for various scenarios.  Read this and you could potentially save yourself a lot of embarrassment.

Thursday 11th

The Deadline – A Story – Another beautiful, moving tale about PowerPoint, truck stops, mistaken sexuality and monitor pixies.  It’s all the classic ingredients baked into a fresh pie.

Friday 12th

Expectations – A Poem – I can’t really explain this poem to you.  You either get it or you don’t.  It’s all clever and stuff like that.  Super.

A Week of Sherby57: 28th Feb – 6th Mar 2010

I’m constantly being told that I’m a philosophical genius.  It’s not really for me to say, but it seems unlikely that people would say it if it wasn’t true.  Or perhaps it would make them more likely to say it if it wasn’t true.  Think about it.

I’ve just challenged you in a philosophical way.  I just can’t help myself.

Anyway, this week’s posts from Sherby57 help illustrate the many layers to my thinking.  Have a read of them and your horizons will undoubtedly broaden.

Sunday 28th

Gary and the Elf – A allegorical tale in which a man is tricked by an elf.  The deeper question is this:  is the elf real or is it merely a manifestation of Gary’s inner turmoil about the war in Iraq?

Monday 1st

Toasted Teacake – What would it be like to be an inanimate object?  Would it make any difference if the inanimate object was a delicious bread-based snack?  I challenge your preconceptions by putting myself in the role of a human-teacake hybrid.  What would you do if you were a bun?

Tuesday 2nd

A Poor Substitute – A Poem –  Sometimes I will write a verse that is designed to provoke a change in society.  People need to learn that if you don’t understand something then you perhaps shouldn’t try and do it anyway.

Thursday 4th

Past, Present and Future – A Story – This is, perhaps, my version of Paulo Coelho’s The Alchemist.  It’s a deeply symbolical story about spirituality and the power of positive thinking.  In some ways, you could view it as a kind of ‘magic spell’ that I’ve inserted into the universe in an attempt to alter my own fate.  Will I be successful? Only time and a dab of Sally Henson’s Lip Inflator will tell.

Saturday 6th

The Writer – A Story – Yet another masterpiece.  This tells the story of a professional writer whose very reason for being is challenged by an unusual assignment.  Who do the mysterious French pop group, Les Trois Célèbres, represent?  Are they a manifestation of the holy trinity or are they just three young girls having fun singing at old people?  In a way, we’ll never know.  But knowing isn’t always the point.

Well, I hope that you enjoyed this week’s posts.  If you’d like to debate any of the issues raised in them, then just leave a comment.

Two Weeks of Sherby57: 14th Feb – 27th Feb 2010

Well, I was a bit crap last week and didn’t get around to doing A Week of Sherby57, so I thought it would be just easier to combine two posts together.  You lucky people now have two weeks worth of Sherby57 goodness to enjoy.

Sunday 14th

The Gravy Boat is 10 – It’s another super episode of everybody’s favourite podcast.  The only bad thing about it is that I now realise that it’s been two weeks since I did it and so I’ll have to do another.

Monday 15th

Tick Tock – The inner thoughts of a digital clock.

Tuesday 16th

Facts – There are so many false facts out there that the world is going to hell.  What can be done about it?  Read this post and find out.

Thursday 18th

W.W.A.D? – A new philosophy based around one of the My Little Ponies.  Oh, yes.

Friday 19th

Yet More Hilariously Funny Jokes – I have an amazing talent for writing jokes that are neither thought-provoking nor funny.  Luckily, they are supposed to be like that.

Sunday 21st

Sneeze Cheer – A Poem – A poem about sneezing.

Monday 22nd

Joe The Boy Robot Failed Pirate – A Story – A story about a robot that is so post modern that it’s literally post modern.

Wednesday 24th

Another Clue – What’s going on with A Hazard of Parsnips?  Have a look at this photo and see if you can work it out.

Thursday 25th

Air of Mystery – A Story – A beautiful tale about a beautiful air hostess cum neurosurgeon and an awkward conversation with a ‘sexy walrus’.  Don’t worry, it all ends happily.

A Week of Sherby57: 7th Feb – 13th Feb 2010

What happened over on Sherby57 this week?  Well carry on reading and you’ll find out.

Sunday 7th

The President’s Speech – A moving story about an actor trying to remember his lines and his unusual source of inspiration.

Monday 8th

Down The Trench – A Fantasti-Man Adventure – FM’s back and he’s having a good old-fashioned sulk.

Tuesday 9th

Exercise – A Poem – Exercise is allegedly good for you.  This poem begs to differ.

Wednesday 10th

It’s Only Words – A random thought that I had about words.

Thursday 11th

Sleepy Meeting – A Story – What happens when you go into the most important meeting of your career and you’re feeling a bit sleepy? Read this story to be fully enlightened.

Saturday 13th

Cocktails in the Future – A Story – A peek into the future of humanity…possibly.  It ain’t pretty, but they do have cocktails.
