Despite the number of posts I’ve written about reality TV, I really don’t watch that much of it. I only really watch The X Factor and Celebrity Big Brother; it’s just that I blog about them a bit obsessively.

The phrase “reality TV” is a complete misnomer. They’re actually just shows that feature real people in situations with weird constraints. Reality doesn’t even come into it.

I think on the whole it’s probably not great to watch too many of them, but the fact that it is so easy to get sucked in shows that there is something interesting about these formats.

I’m anti-reality TV. I live in reality! Over the years I’ve been sucked in to a reality tv show or two, mostly thanks to my then teenage daughters. Reality TV shows make me really appreciate my life.

Frisky? I never thought of it that way! Ha ha.

Reality TV – this is the FIRST season of Survivor that I have yet to watch and I’ve been watching since season 1 religiously. It has nothing to do with the show itself and everything to do with my time – I just have none left, and never find myself in front of the telly except with DVDs.

Writing – for serial starters who can’t finish, I suggest you stop trying to ‘be’ and ‘do’ something you aren’t ready to do. Just do what you’re happy doing. Sometimes, we’re too goal oriented where we think we want to write a novel, when really, we just like the process of writing. If you enjoy the process of writing, just write. You don’t have to have a shiny book at the end.
