Gig 21a: Comedysportz Intermediate Showcase @ Comedy Store, Manchester – 3rd December 2011
December 5, 2011 2 Comments
Last Saturday saw the culmination of my third batch of Comedysportz workshops when I performed at the group’s showcase (you can read about the first one I did, here). For those of you that don’t know, Comedysportz is a competitive, family-friendly improvised comedy show (the clue really was in the name). The showcase took a similar format where we were split into “teams”, but there were no points awarded and it definitely wasn’t family-friendly.
To be honest, I don’t have a huge amount of insight to impart onto you, other than it being a lot of fun and that I love performing improv. I guess the main thing that I would note is that, despite the showcase being in front of a decent sized audience, I didn’t have any nerves whatsoever. It’s strange that I suffer with nerves before performing a stand up set that I’ve done before and has worked, and don’t get any when getting up and having no idea what I’m going to say. Psychological analysis on a postcard, please.
Anyway, the showcase was videoed, so you can actually see what happened. Being a rampant egomaniac, I’ve only put links to the bits that I’m in, but you can view the rest, here.
Introduction
I’m not actually in this first video, but it’s a much clearer explanation of what it’s all about than the one I gave above.
