Some Rubbish About Blogging

I was asked last week who I fancied most from off of the telly. It seems a simple question, but you can’t just answer flippantly. What if you just dive in there and then forget about someone you particularly have your eye on, and then you remember, but you’ve already left the person who asked you. They’d never know the truth! It’s doesn’t bear thinking about.

Luckily I was able to go with my stock answer of Holly Willoughby and the matter was closed. Or was it? In the back of my mind, I knew there was someone else on TV that I had recently declared “mega-fit”, but I couldn’t think who it was. It was a literal and metaphorical nightmare. I said nothing more to my companion, but, deep inside, all was not well. At this juncture, I’d like to confirm the following points:

a) The person who asked me a question was a girl, so I wasn’t being a sexualist.

and

2) There is a point to all this. Please bear with me.

A couple of days later, I realised that the name I had been searching for was Sarah Shahi. Never heard of her? Google her now.

Done?

Yeah, she’s amazing, isn’t she? She’s currently starring in Fairly Legal (Sundays, 8pm, Universal Channel) if you’d like to see her moving and talking. And why wouldn’t you?

After making my realisation, I remembered that I had mentioned her on this blog a few times, when she was appearing in cop-show, Life. I searched the blog and had a read of those old posts where she was mentioned. Surprisingly, I found myself really enjoying them. I decided to read some more of my television-themed posts and ended up totally engrossed in them. I think I read them all.

So, what did I learn from this experience? Firstly, it showed the power of having a blog as a diary. It was amazing what memories came flooding back, even if those memories were essentially just what happened in TV shows.

More importantly, I discovered that my old posts were actually much better than I had given myself credit for. I won’t say too much more for fear of sounding arrogant, but they were bloody great. Plus, there’s nothing more rewarding than laughing at your own jokes.

In a recent post, I pondered my lack of hits recently and came to the conclusion that it was due to a lack of regular updates. Whilst this is likely to have had an effect, I realised that I have stopped writing about actual stuff. Hopefully in the near future I’ll resurrect some of my old blogging topics and blow you away in a flurry of wordage. Stay tuned, blog-lovers.

was it me that asked you that? Sounds like something I’d grill folk on. I’m obsessed with ‘sexy bitches’

    • sherby57 says:

It was indeed thee who asked me said question. I’d like to take this opportunity of thanking you for provoking the searchage that resulted in me realising how great I am.

    • sherby57 says:

      P.s.

You should clarify that your interest in ‘sexy bitches’ is purely scientific or you might over-excite the male populace with the implication of an FHM interview-style tease.

I’m like a catalyst to self esteem findage. So, really, I expect a pyramid of ferrero rocher as a thank you and a half of floral ale.

True to form, I was out with another male friend, this time a colleague, and he got a similar grilling vis a vis ‘hotness’. It seems I truly am obsessed with what people find attractive.

I can only put this down to an incident with a can of cossack hairspray when I was a teenager. I must also clarify that sexy bitches denotes anyone, really. My standards are spectacularly low.

    • sherby57 says:

I’m sure that if I were to visit Widnes’s catalyst museum, then I would find your magnifient visage in a display cabinet. Consider the Rocher pyramid purchased, despite the fact that it hasn’t actually been purchased.

I think we’re all obsessed with what people find attractive,we’re genetically predisposed to be fascinated. Cossack hairspray is a well known stimulant of the “fitness gland”, you’re lucky to come out of the incident intact.

Sarah Shahi is, indeed, muchos hot. I saw her in Life a (now cancelled) US detective show – I thought it was a good idea that was done well now and again but never seemed to find it’s ‘voice.’ Worth a season’s watch, but that’s about it really. It’s a bit like Burn Notice – the Pirates of the Caribbean of tv box sets. Anyway, that’s where I first saw Miss Shahi.

So, you got your bloggin’ mojo back?

    • sherby57 says:

Yeah, I used to watch Life – I even blogged about it in this post – http://poursomegravyonme.co.uk/2009/10/01/life-but-not-as-we-know-it/ – and I agree with your assessment. They had an interesting premise and Damien Lewis was excellent in the main role, but it didn’t quite all come together. It was also a ridiculous piece of casting to have Shahi as a hard-bitten cop. I’ve seen her in Fairly Legal and she is much better suited to a more light-hearted role.

I’m currently attempting to cajole my blogging mojo back to life – it’s going OK, so far!

      • mrshev says:

Oh yeah, I didn’t really notice that they’d ‘sexed’ it up a bit for the second season. I thought the whole thing was going to be darker, but alas not…

We’re watching The Killing, the danish crime drama. It is unashamedly awesome.

It’s amazing how somone wearing their hair down can make such a difference to the tone of a show!

I missed out on The Killing when it was shown on BBC4 recently – and by “missed out”, I mean that I gave up after about 10 minutes because it seemed like a standard cop show in a foreign language. I wish I’d given it more of a chance, now.

Have you seen Spiral, the excellent French cop show? Shameless plug for my review of the season finale, here: http://poursomegravyonme.co.uk/2011/05/10/stuff-i-watched-spiral/

    • mrshev says:

My missus is always on about Spiral (Engranages) saying I should watch it. She, of course, watches it in French – but I think I will still have to struggle on with the subtitles.

      Is it really that good?

  5. mrshev says:

Oh, The Killing should be watched – it really is excellent.

    • sherby57 says:

Spiral really is excellent, although I’m pre-disposed to thinking French films are amazing, so I might be slightly biased. I which I could watch them sans subtitles, though. I occasionally consider studying French with the dream of being able to watch their cinema as it was intended. I, obvously, never follow through on this plan.

Hopefully The Killing will get a repeat and I’ll try to be more patient with it. I believe that there is a US version, which is also supposed to be good.
