How to Avoid Not Blogging
September 9, 2010 2 Comments
The thing that I’m avoiding is not blogging, which is admittedly quite a weird thing to avoid.
I try and write as much a possible, mainly because I’m scared that if I don’t post regular updates then I’ll get out of the habit and my blogs will crumble into (metaphorical) dust. I’ve had a bit of a busy couple of weeks, so I’ve not had as much time or mental energy for writing as I usually do. When this happens it generally leads to lots of posts explaining why I haven’t blogged much. Technically this counts, but it doesn’t exactly make for compelling reading.
In an attempt to inspire myself, I’ve had a look through Plinky and this was the first prompt that I saw that I felt I could answer. Some of them seem almost impossible (for me) to answer. Recent ones include “Name a children’s book every child should read” and “Describe a time when you had deja vu”. I don’t have answers for that sort of thing. They’re just not my forte.
Sometimes I can generate a spoof answer for them and post them on The World of Sherby57, but that wouldn’t really work on PSGOM. I’ll just keep trawling through Plinky prompts and hope that I can continue to avoid not blogging.

Hi! Liked the meaningless blog thing. Need to ask you about lulu.com. I finally got round to trying to upload my novel there. I don’t think I’m any more thick than the next bloke but I find the whole thing totally confusing. I just can’t figure out what the flip to do! I have 42 complete chapters as separate Word docs to publish as one gorgeous spanking new novel but how do I do it. Download the template (which one?) then what? Copy and paste each chapter into a single doc (PDF? what does that entail?) I’m thinking I may be too stupid to do this and may have to pay for lulu to do it herself (she’s got nothing better to do since the singing career dried up) but I don’t have any money so that’s a non-starter. Please please please help. I seem to remember you saying that you found the whole process very easy. Please help a poor person who is finding it impossibly hard.
I will certainly help if I can!
You need to choose which format book you want to publish as, and then that determines which template you’ll have to use. You then need to copy your work into the template. You can either combine them into one doc or keep them separate (Lulu can combine them for you). Once you’ve got all your doc in the right size then you can upload to Lulu and they will convert it to PDF for you. You’ll have to make sure that you review this PDF carefully as it might need tweaking.
Have you signed up to Lulu – they do have support forums that came in handy when I was trying to get my formatting just right.
Hopefully this is enough to get you started. If you need any more help then let me know. I look forward to reading the novel!
