The High Cost of Living

People always go on about how must alcohol costs in Scandinavia, but just how expensive can it really be?

I submit as evidence the receipt above, for two bottles of Magners Cider, from The Irishman pub in Stavanger.  The two bottles cost a combined 188 krona.  Given that the exchange rate is roughly 10 krona = 1 pound you can see that two bottles of cider cost nearly £20.  This wasn’t a fancy-schmancy place, either.  It was your bog-standard Irish bar.

It’s a bloody good job that I don’t drink.
