Has It Got The X Factor Back? Part 2
September 28, 2009 10 Comments
After writing about day one of boot camp it seemed only fitting to have a bash at day two. Sadly, I don’t have any great insights to offer. Sorry about that.
I quite enjoyed it, although I did whizz through it all rather quickly. The points of interest were:
1) Simon did a lot of nodding.
2) ‘No one wants it more than…’ This phrase was used to describe at least thirty of the final fifty. Surely, it can only be used once.
3) John and Edward went through. Louis got the groups. These two facts cannot be a coincidence.
4) Simon is going to take some beating with the over-25 category, they look very strong.
5) Have I mentioned that The Xtra Factor is the better show? Get watching it.
6) There was literally no tension when they brought the acts on stage to see who went through. It was blatantly obvious which ones were which.
Next week is judges’ houses and I’m vaguely looking forward to it. Result.

JOHN AND EDWARD.
I might have felt sorry for Louis getting the groups (and the inevitable trouncing) again, but seeing as he put through these two, I don’t. In fact I’m delighted. Hoist by your own petard, Walsh. Ha!
Also, is it just me or is the girlband they put together from the 3 soloists absolutely awful? They just shriek everything. Volume is not the same as talent!
I know what you mean about no tension. I also thought there was none about who would get which catergory either – it was a bit too easy to work out in advance. Cheryl got the boys because she’s been drooling over them since week 1, and the producers want to keep her happy, Simon got the “overs” because he’s the boss and he likes them the best, Dannii got the girls because they’re not bad (even if they do over-sing nearly everything) and Cheryl didn’t want them, and Louis got the groups because Louis nearly always gets the groups. And because of JOHN AND EDWARD, as you rightly point out, Sherby.
I did feel sorry for poor Dominic though. Honestly, if Danni was that upset about putting him out, why did they? He was miles better than Rikki and Joseph.
I thought that there was no chance that Louis would get the groups again, but the way he insisted on John and Edward got through made me very suspicious. I think he must have asked to have the groups. If I was cynical, I would think that Louis had already been working with the little twerps. But, of course, I’m not cynical.
Were they called Miss Frank? Yeah, they weren’t great, but I guess its a little harsh to judge them too harshly since they had no time to rehearse together. It would be good if they had at least one good group to keep things interesting, but I can’t see any of them making an impact.
I think the group allocation was predictable as you say. Simon got himself the strongest group, and the two ladies got nice safe groups. It would have been interesting if Louis had got one of the stronger groups really, but, as I say, I think he just wants to work with the idiot twins.
I was a little surprised over Dominic myself, and I was fully expecting a, ‘I think we’ve made a mistake’ moment. I think he was one of the better singers and should have probably of gone through.
Snap! I totally thought they would have a “I think we’ve made a mistake moment” too. I was pretty disappointed they didn’t. It would have been the cheesiest thing ever, but in a good way. And it’s not his fault he doesn’t come from South Shields, is it? Grrr.
On the plus side though, the bit where they put Behrouz out, and Simon seemed genuinely scared of him was hilarious. “Don’t make eye contact.” “Don’t tell me he’s still there, just tell me when he’s gone.” Heh.
It is very cheesy when they do ‘i think we’ve made a mistake’ and totally rigged. The fact that they put an extra person through never means that there is seven people at the judges house. Very fishy.
I was disappointed that Behrouz didn’t go through, he could have been the new Chico!
One Chico is more than enough, Sherby….
But, surely it’s always Chico time! The charisma, the magic, the sheer musical
genius of the man. Simply stunning.
Not really. I did quite enjoy it when he was on though, it was interesting to see someone who couldn’t sing try and survive in a singing contest.
if it’s not restricted by the format of the show, I think all over 25′s should make it to the final rounds. I don’t think hopefuls who could sing only would sell and break the record chart (Leona Lewis being the exception, I never like her either). We need singers who could “entertain”.
This essential ingredient of entertaining seems to be forgotten while looking for a winner in X-factor. So Sherby, I agree with you. We need more Chicco time, I’d love to see Behrouz in the finals. We need entertainers who are charismatic, who writes his / her own songs, who has personality…. etc. I’m happy that Olly Murs is there, I think he entertains with his moves.. For this reason, I find “Britain’s got talent” more entertaining than X-factor. Do you care if Leona Lewis or Alexandre Burke make another record? I don’t !!!
The final 12 from the outpost audition is announced on X-factor’s website now. If you don’t want me to spoil it for you, just don’t check out the website. One spoiler though, and Yes, that stupid John and Edwards made it all the way through the finals. I can’t stand Walsh. I think I’m going to keep watching “Strictly come dancing” when it clashes with X-factor, like what I do every week.
I don’t know if I could cope with a with a competition of 12 Chico-style wannabes, but I think they should have at least one ‘entertainer’ to mix things up a bit. And the show is called ‘The X Factor’ and not ‘Best singer who is also quite pretty Factor’.
John and Edward?? This cannot be happening!!!
Believe it. It had happened.
By the way, no luck with my interviews. Maybe it’s a bad time, or maybe it’s because I keep talking with stupid arrogant bankers that are both rude and condescending! the orgns that we both work with might not be incredibly glamorous, but there are a lot of nice people.
Hmmm, well it will be interesting to see how long they last!! Surely there is nobody out there who actually likes them,
I definitely won’t comment on the amount of nice people in this organisation haha. Better luck next time with the interviews!
