True Blood Survivors Group

Over on the comments section on excellent TV blog, Unpopcult, a trend has emerged regarding vampire drama True Blood. It seems that a large number of people are watching the whole of True Blood season one, on FX, despite not really liking it. I’m committing this act of insanity myself.
I want to be cured, and I can only assume that others feel the same way, which is why I am launching the True Blood Survivors Group. We’re here to help you, comfort you and support you. If you follow our twelve-step plan you too can stop watching this boring drama serial.
Every one of our members will be assigned a sponsor, a former True Blood watcher who has managed to learn not to watch a TV programme that they don’t like. They can pass on the secrets to you, and help you through those dark moments when you can’t bring yourself to delete the series link on Sky Plus.

But I can’t stop before the finale, I have one ep to go! And does this mean we won’t be watching season 2? What if it’s GOOD…..?
(I see what you mean about insanity.)
I second everything CJ just said.
It’s only natural for you to feel that way, that’s why it is an addiction and a disease. Don’t let anybody tell you any different.
Hmmm. But what if season 2 IS good? Then we’d be justified in watching it. I think we should agree an official cut off point with season 2 in which it has to prove itself… or is that just the madness talking?
An addict has to want to quit. And I don’t… Espcially after the ep 11 cliffhanger. (Another soap opera trick.)
I’ve not seen ep 11 yet, so I may have a big change of heart when I have. At the moment though, the only things that are keeping me watching are wanting to finish what I started and being scared of missing something.
Bloody cliffhangers.
Those are the exact two reasons why I almost always see (all sorts of) things through to the end. Plus the all-that-time-I’ve-already-invested factor.
I sort of really want to stop doing that, but WHAT IF YOU MISS SOMETHING!!! ARGGGGGH!!!!
I’m starting to genuinely believe it’s a form of addiction.
You should submit a paper to The Lancet.
I’m working on it now. Once I’ve established myself as the leading authority on this awful affliction I’m going to open my own clinic to treat celebrity clients. Don’t worry, as one of the original test subjects they’ll always be a place on the ward for you, completely gratis.
