Boring Blog Stats – August 2009

The first two entries in this series were entitled, Sex Sells: The Mr Banana Penis Story and Sex Sells2: French Poker Mayhem.  Since these were actually about how many hits my blogs have been getting, they could be considered somewhat misleading.  This has led me to create the new name for the feature, Boring Blog Stats.  It’s slightly less alluring, but it does what it says on the tin.

August looked like it was going to be pretty similar to July with regards to hits, until the 14th when I started updating both blogs daily.  The extra effort seems to have paid off.

The stats for July were:

The World Of Sherby57 – Total hits = 552, Average hits per day =  17.8

Pour Some Gravy On Me – Total hits = 156 , Average hits per day = 5.0

In August they were:

Sherby57 –  Total hits = 750, Average hits per day = 24.2

PSGOM – Total hits = 468, Average hits per day =15.1

A decent month for Sherby57 getting the hits up by over 6 per day, and a truly remarkable month for PSGOM, with the hit rate tripling, compared to the previous month.  It’s actually easier to boost hits on PSGOM because, in it, I write about real things, that people might actually search for.  To get a boost on Sherby57 is much more difficult as it’s mainly nonsense.

This is the most successful month for Sherby57 since December 2008, and in those days I didn’t always log in to WordPress, so many of those hits would have been from me.  It almost goes without saying that this was the best month ever for PSGOM.  What is pleasing about it, is that, apart from the original Sex Sells, the rest of the Top 5 all time favourite posts are from last month.  This suggests that my latest posts are ones that people might actually want to read.

Will I be able to match this months hit rate in September? I’m not so sure, but I’m going to give it my best shot. See you next month stats fans.
